Mecum Glendale 2024 Collector Car Auction Achieves Over $54 Million In Sales
The recent Mecum Auctions event, held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, from March 5-9, 2023, concluded with impressive sales figures, totaling over $54 million. The auction featured 942 classic and collector vehicles, with a highly awarded L88 Corvette (Lot S143) achieving the highest sale at $1.815 million. The event showcased a variety of American-built favorites from Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, and Cadillac, attracting enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Ford vehicles notably dominated the top sales, with a 2021 Ford GT Studio Collection Series (Lot S162) leading the way. A 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback (Lot S154) also made headlines by bringing in $363,000.
Among the star-studded sales was a 1969 Cadillac Eldorado (Lot F182) once owned by Elvis Presley, which sparked an energetic bidding war before selling for $253,000. Another highlight was the sale of a presidential limousine, a 1964 Imperial Crown Ghia (Lot S149), which served then-First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and President Lyndon Baines Johnson. This vehicle, one of just ten produced and with a well-documented history including photos of its presidential service, sold for an impressive $181,500.
