Maserati MSG Racing Gains Podium Spot At Misano E-Prix Following Da Costa Disqualification

In a dramatic turn of events at the 2024 Misano E-Prix, Maserati MSG Racing's Maximilian Günther ascended to a podium finish following the disqualification of Antonio Felix da Costa. The provisional race winner was stripped of his victory after an FIA investigation revealed a technical non-compliance involving the throttle damper spring on his Porsche 99X Electric. Initially crossing the finish line in fourth, Günther's elevation to third place came as a direct result of this ruling.

Starting from seventh on the grid, Günther showcased his skill and determination throughout the race. His performance not only secured him a spot on the podium but also significantly boosted his standing in the FIA Formula E World Drivers’ Championship. With this result, he moved from fifth to third, amassing a total of 63 points. Meanwhile, Maserati MSG Racing continues to make its mark in the championship, holding sixth place in the World Teams’ Championship standings.

The Misano E-Prix weekend is far from over, with another race scheduled for Sunday, 14 April, promising more electrifying action from the world of Formula E. Maserati's participation in this championship underscores its commitment to innovation and excellence in motorsport, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) segment.

Maserati S.p.A., known for producing a range of cars that embody style, technology, and exclusive character, has always set benchmarks in the automotive industry. Its lineup includes models like the Levante, Grecale, and GranTurismo, each distinguished by high-quality materials and technical solutions. The brand's move towards electrification is evident in its offering of 4-cylinder hybrid powertrains for the Grecale and Levante and V6 petrol engines across its range.

The MC20 super sports car and its spyder variant, the MC20 Cielo, represent the pinnacle of Maserati's range. These models are powered by the innovative Nettuno V6 engine, which brings Formula 1 technologies to standard production cars for the first time. Furthermore, Maserati's commitment to electrification is highlighted by the introduction of the GranTurismo Folgore, its first fully electric car, and plans to offer electric versions of all models by 2025. By 2028, Maserati aims for its entire range to be powered solely by electricity.

Maserati MSG Racing has been a key player in Formula E since its inception. As one of the founding teams and the first manufacturer to join this all-electric motorsport category in December 2013, it has shown significant growth and success over the years. Under the leadership of Chairman and Managing Partner Scott Swid, it stands out not only for its competitive achievements but also for promoting sustainability, equity, diversity, and inclusion within the sport.
