Lanzante And Mad Mike Team Up For Groundbreaking 'MADMAC' Drift Hypercar
In a collaboration that sets a new benchmark for automotive innovation, Lanzante and drift icon ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett have embarked on their most ambitious venture yet. Dubbed Project: ‘MADMAC’, this initiative aims to create the most extreme drift hypercar the world has ever seen, utilizing the track-focused McLaren P1 GTR as its base. The project, which also involves the expertise of the O’Gara Coach luxury group, is set to make its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2024.
The conception of ‘MADMAC’ is a testament to what can be achieved when two powerhouses in automotive engineering and drifting prowess join forces. The project has already completed its initial stages at Lanzante’s workshop in the UK and has now moved to New Zealand. Here, at Mike’s ‘Mad Lab’, the McLaren is undergoing a transformation to full drift-specification, with only 100 days left until it returns to the UK for its unveiling.

Lanzante, known for their exceptional work with McLaren models, and Mad Mike, a Red Bull athlete celebrated for his drifting skills and innovative drift machines, are pushing the boundaries of their expertise. Their collaboration with O’Gara Coach, a curator of extraordinary cars based in Beverly Hills, California, promises to bring a unique vehicle capable of taking on special events and projects around the globe.
The idea for ‘MADMAC’ was sparked during a meeting between Dean Lanzante and Mad Mike at Goodwood. Recognizing each other’s achievements and capabilities led to exploring the potential for this groundbreaking project. "We like to think that we build some of the most extreme cars," said Dean Lanzante. Mad Mike’s response was to elevate their ambitions even further.
Mad Mike’s reputation for creating unique drift cars is unparalleled. His projects, including teaching Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen to drift and the Red Bull ‘Conquer the Crown’, highlight his innovative approach. His latest creations include ‘NIMBUL’, a custom drift-specification Lamborghini Huracan, and a world-first 5-rotor drift machine inspired by the 1991 Le Mans-winning Mazda 787B, known as the ‘Mad Mike 787D’.
As anticipation builds, more details about this extraordinary build will be shared across Lanzante, O’Gara Coach, and Mad Mike’s channels in the weeks leading up to its debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2024. This collaboration not only showcases the pinnacle of automotive engineering and design but also marks a significant moment in the world of motorsports.
