Lamborghini SC63 Demonstrates Strong Reliability In The 12 Hours Of Sebring Race

The Lamborghini SC63 recently marked its competitive debut in the United States, participating in the 12 Hours of Sebring, a key event in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The race, known for its grueling nature, saw the #63 Lamborghini Iron Lynx team, consisting of Matteo Cairoli, Andrea Caldarelli, and Romain Grosjean, finishing seventh overall. Despite facing a challenge with a loose door in the final hours, the team managed to secure a commendable finish. Meanwhile, the #19 Iron Lynx team in the GTD Pro class achieved a podium finish, coming in third thanks to the efforts of Mirko Bortolotti, Franck Perera, and Jordan Pepper. This success was aided by a penalty given to the #77 Porsche on the final lap.

Lamborghini's presence was further highlighted as the Urus Performante took on the role of the official safety car for the event. The brand's commitment to excellence was evident throughout the race weekend. Looking forward, Lamborghini Squadra Corse is set to participate in the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Imola. Additionally, the SC63 is expected to return to IMSA action at Watkins Glen during the summer.

Lamborghini SC63 Excels at Sebring

During practice sessions at the Sebring International Raceway, known for its challenging surface, the Lamborghini Iron Lynx team faced some difficulties but managed to address them effectively. The #63 car qualified eighth on the grid. Throughout the race, Cairoli maintained a steady pace before handing over to Grosjean in the third hour. Despite several Full Course Yellow periods and an unplanned pit stop due to a loose door, Grosjean kept competitive, ensuring a seventh-place finish just behind a sixth-placed BMW.

In both GTD Pro and GTD classes, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 cars showed their potential during practice sessions. Notably, the #78 Forte Racing car finished fourth and second in its first two sessions. However, both the #83 Iron Dames and #19 Iron Lynx faced issues that needed resolution before qualifying. Despite starting from the back of the field, all five Huracán GT3 EVO2s had strong starts in their race. The #19 and #78 maintained their positions well, with the #19 fighting hard to secure its podium finish in third place. Unfortunately, the #83 encountered problems leading to its withdrawal from the race.

The performance of Lamborghini SC63 and its teams across different classes showcased their reliability and competitiveness. With solid results under their belt, there is a strong motivation within the team to continue improving and narrowing down the gap to the front runners in future races. Lamborghini has expressed gratitude towards its teams for their perseverance and hard work throughout this challenging event.
