Kintetsu World Express Benelux To Enhance Logistics With New CFS In 2024
In a strategic move to bolster its air cargo handling capabilities, Kintetsu World Express (Benelux) B.V. (KWE Benelux), a subsidiary of the global logistics giant Kintetsu World Express, Inc., has announced plans to construct and operate a new air cargo terminal by 2024. This development is set to significantly enhance the company's logistics and air cargo services in the Benelux region, with a particular focus on expanding operations between Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Currently, KWE Benelux's Amsterdam Branch oversees two facilities located in the Westpoort industrial estate, merely 10km away from Schiphol Airport. The existing logistics operations housed in Warehouse 2 will be consolidated into Warehouse 1 and the forthcoming Cargo Freight Station (CFS), streamlining processes and improving service delivery to clients. The new terminal will be situated within the cargo area of Schiphol Airport, adjacent to airline cargo facilities, enabling efficient in-house Unit Load Device (ULD) build-up and breakdown of air consolidation cargo for a diverse range of goods.

Notably, the terminal will feature a GDP-certified temperature control facility dedicated to medical supplies and pharmaceuticals requiring stringent temperature management. Additionally, it will boast TAPA certification, ensuring the highest security standards for customer cargo. In line with sustainable practices, the design of the new warehouse facility incorporates wood and Xcarb™ steel—ArcelorMittal's innovative "Green Steel" known for its low carbon emissions during production. The facility's roof will be equipped with solar panels, further emphasizing energy efficiency. Upon completion, it will achieve BREEAM® certification Excellent status, underscoring its environmental sustainability.
The decision to initiate cargo handling at its own terminal underscores KWE Benelux's commitment to expanding its air import/export business and strengthening its European presence. The company aims to leverage its global network to deliver superior logistics services across continents.
The specifications of the upcoming facility at Folkstonweg 65, 1118LN Schiphol-Rijk include an office space of 735㎡ and a warehouse spanning 9,175㎡, with WDP Development NL N.V. serving as the lessor. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2024, marking a significant milestone in KWE Benelux's efforts to enhance its logistics infrastructure and service offerings.
This development is poised to not only improve logistics efficiency but also contribute positively to environmental sustainability through its innovative design and construction materials. As KWE Benelux prepares for this expansion, it reaffirms its dedication to providing world-class logistics solutions while embracing sustainable practices.
