Kia EV9 And Niro Garner Top Honours At 2024 Fleet News Awards
Kia has once again demonstrated its prowess in the automotive industry by securing two prestigious awards at the 2024 Fleet News Awards. The ceremony, held in London, is renowned for celebrating excellence across fleet suppliers, companies, vehicles, and individuals. Kia's fully electric EV9 was honoured with the 'Electric Car Breakthrough of the Year' award, while the Niro clinched the 'Best Lower Medium Car' award for the second consecutive year.
The EV9 stood out for its practical design, featuring three-row seating and a spacious interior. Its electric range, charging capabilities, and performance were key factors in winning this accolade. Stephen Briers, Editor of Fleet News, praised the EV9 for being a competitively priced seven-seat electric car that marks a significant improvement in quality for Kia. He highlighted its appeal in the large people carrier segment as a first of its kind that is truly affordable.

On the other hand, the Kia Niro has continued to impress with its versatility and choice of three electrified powertrains: fully electric, plug-in hybrid, or hybrid. Each option offers efficiency and practicality, making it an ideal choice for fleets. Briers noted the Niro's practicality, ample space, and strong residual values which contribute to its competitive running costs. Its status as the top seller in its segment among fleets last year was also underscored.
John Hargreaves, General Manager for Fleet and Remarketing at Kia UK, expressed his delight over these recognitions. He emphasized Kia's broad appeal to fleet and business customers, supported by one of the most varied model line-ups available. Kia's achievement of surpassing 100,000 annual sales in the UK by the end of 2022 and continuing its growth with 107,765 sales in 2023 further underscores its strength in the market.
To support fleet and business customers, Kia introduced the Business Service Promise in late 2022. This service aims to provide optimal service and maintenance through the Kia dealer network. It includes competitive rates for dealer servicing, fixed-price repairs, access to a cost of ownership system, and improved mobility and residual values.
Additionally, Kia offers a 48-hour test drive for fleets considering electric vehicles. This service allows businesses to experience the benefits of fully electric cars firsthand, including lower running costs and beneficial tax implications.
Kia's continued success at the Fleet News Awards and its commitment to serving fleet and business customers highlight its dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction. With a focus on expanding its electric vehicle offerings and enhancing service experiences, Kia is poised to maintain its strong position in the automotive industry.
