Kia Introduces 'Opposites United: Intersections Beyond Boundaries' At 2024 Milan Design Week
Kia is set to captivate the design world once again at the 2024 Milan Design Week, presenting its Design Cultural Communication Project from 15 to 21 April at the Museo della Permanente in Milan, Italy. This year's exhibition aims to elevate the design culture of ‘Opposites United’ through a collaborative effort with artists from diverse fields, encouraging open and courageous creativity that crosses boundaries and expands ideas.
Last year, Kia introduced its design philosophy at Milan Design Week, sparking a broader discussion on design through the Opposites United Exhibition. This year, the exhibition evolves into a more interactive experience, engaging participants from various fields in dialogue and conversation. This approach marks a significant shift from presenting Kia’s own design narrative to fostering cultural creativity through direct communication with visitors. Artists, performers, and designers from previous and current exhibitions will play a crucial role in this creative exchange.
The exhibition will feature three distinct styles of art installations: Personal and Collective, Tangible and Intangible, and Finite and Infinite. Each style embodies the ‘Opposites United’ philosophy by merging contrasting elements to create a unique artistic expression.

Personal and Collective
Anna Galtarossa’s ‘The Spirit of Disco’ and Riccardo Benassi’s 'Daily Dense Dance Desiderio' exemplify the fusion of personal and collective experiences. Galtarossa’s kaleidoscopic installation invites viewers into her personal perspective, blending the material world with augmented reality. In contrast, Benassi’s work delves into the collective ecstasy of techno-thoughts through a conceptual digital landscape.
Tangible and Intangible
Sissel Tolaas challenges the boundaries of perception with ‘whereareWEarewhere’, a high-tech apparatus designed to distribute an invisible architecture of senses. This installation explores the concept of scent in unprecedented ways, offering visitors a glimpse into the future aroma of ‘Opposites United 2024’.
Finite and Infinite
The creative partnership between Danilo Grande and Benny Lai is showcased in 'Led Pulse', where Neuronal LED technology merges Eastern and Western philosophies. The installation serves as both a stage for daily performances and a self-sufficient entity, embodying the dualism between individuality and collectivism.
This year's Milan Design Week exhibition by Kia is not just an event but an invitation to explore new worlds of sensation beyond conventional boundaries. It promises to be a space where imagination is limitless, inviting visitors to experience the future of design culture as envisioned by Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ philosophy.
