Kia America Reports Second-Highest First Quarter Sales, EVs See Major Growth
Kia America has reported an impressive performance in the first quarter of 2024, marking its second-highest sales total in the company's history. The automotive giant saw a significant uptick in March sales, reaching 69,472 units. Notably, sales of electrified models witnessed a 9% increase from the previous year, with electric vehicles (EVs) experiencing a substantial surge of 151%. The SUV lineup, including popular models such as the Forte, Sportage, and Telluride, dominated the sales chart, contributing to 79% of the total sales. Each of these models surpassed the 10,000 units mark in March alone. Additionally, the Sorento SUV saw a remarkable 28% increase in sales following the launch of its refreshed 2024 model.
Amidst this sales boom, Kia made several noteworthy announcements. The all-electric three-row SUV, the EV9, clinched both the World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle titles at the 2024 World Car Awards. At the New York International Auto Show, Kia unveiled its upcoming K4 compact sedan, showcasing its advanced technology, comprehensive driver assistance systems, and spacious interior. Furthermore, the Kia Telluride was named the best three-row midsize SUV for the fifth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report's "Best Cars for Families" award program and received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating.

The remarkable sales performance in March and the accolades received by Kia's models underscore the brand's growing dominance in the SUV market and the significant impact of its all-new EV offerings. Kia plans to maintain this momentum with the upcoming release of refreshed models for the Carnival and K5. Based in Irvine, California, Kia America stands as a pivotal player in the automotive industry. The brand boasts a diverse range of vehicles including gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric models. These vehicles are sold through an extensive network of over 775 dealers across the U.S., with several cars and SUVs proudly assembled in America.
