Kentucky Peerless Releases Second Batch Of Rum Barrel Finished Bourbon

Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company, a family-owned craft distillery in Louisville, has announced the release of Batch 2 of its Small Batch Rum Barrel Finished Bourbon. The release will commence on June 1, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Peerless Distillery located at 120 North 10th Street in Louisville, Kentucky. Bottle signings will be available from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This new release is the second barrel-finished bourbon from Peerless, following the success of their Double Oak Bourbon. The distillery carefully explored additional barrel finishes to enhance the complexity and notes of their bourbon. By exposing Peerless Bourbon to two separate casks, they achieve two full barrel extractions, enriching the flavour profile.

The Peerless tasting team meticulously selects barrels that complement the extra barrel character for aging in an additional rum barrel. This process ensures a balanced flavour profile that upholds the Peerless name. "Our team of distillers has done an exceptional job curating the barrels for this project," said Carson Taylor, Fifth Generation and President.

Peerless Rum Barrel Finished Bourbon Batch 2 features a nose with aromas of salt water taffy, sweet florals, and pears, with undertones of toasted coconut and plums. The first sip offers waves of sliced pineapple fruit, reminiscent of an upside-down pineapple cake, with notes of cinnamon bread and cherry reduction. The second sip brings forth piña colada notes with burnt sorghum, blueberry reduction, and sweet mint.
