Kentucky Peerless Distilling Debuts Toasted Bourbon Batch 1 With Unique Aging Process

In a significant development for whiskey enthusiasts, the Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company, a distinguished family-owned craft distillery based in Louisville, has announced the launch of its inaugural Toasted Bourbon. This eagerly awaited release is set to commence with Batch 1 on March 16, 2024, marking a notable event at the distillery's premises located at 120 North 10th Street. The launch event promises an exclusive opportunity for aficionados to acquire the first 100 bottles, each adorned with a specially numbered label, directly from the distillery starting at 10 a.m.

Following its debut, the Toasted Bourbon will see a phased distribution, initially available within Kentucky before reaching nationwide availability. The distillery has also planned bottle signings on the launch day between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., adding a personal touch to the purchase experience. However, attendees should note there is a two-bottle limit per person to ensure wide accessibility.

The crafting process of Peerless Toasted Bourbon involves a unique dual aging technique. Initially aged in char level 3 barrels to develop rich flavors of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee, the whiskey is then transferred to toasted barrels for finishing. This second barrel imparts additional layers of complexity with notes of honey, vanilla, toasted spices, and chocolate. "The medium toast of the finishing barrels was selected for its lower tannin content, which enhances the whiskey's aroma and adds warmth and sweetness to its character," explained John Wadell, Peerless Head Taster.

Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co., with its rich heritage dating back to 1889 and revival in 2013 by Corky Taylor and Carson Taylor from the fourth and fifth generations respectively, prides itself on its meticulous handcrafted production process.
