The awards ceremony saw key figures from Kenanga Investors, including Christopher Kok, Head of Equities; Lee Sook Yee, Chief Investment Officer; and Dawne Chin, Portfolio Manager, receiving the accolades. Kenanga Wins Big at Lipper 2024

Datuk Wira Ismitz Matthew De Alwis, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kenanga Investors, attributed this success to the firm's robust investment strategy. "Our approach to bottom-up stock-picking, grounded in fundamental research combined with a relative value approach, has been instrumental in navigating the past year's volatile market conditions," he stated.

The firm's investment philosophy has enabled it to excel by closely monitoring industry dynamics and trends, as well as individual company business models. This meticulous analysis has facilitated effective position sizing across portfolios, with the construction, utilities, and regional technology sectors contributing significantly to their success.

Looking ahead, Chief Investment Officer Lee Sook Yee shared insights into the firm's economic outlook for the year. "We are optimistic about equities and are adopting a tactical overweight position. Our focus will continue to be on bottom-up stock-picking," she explained. Lee also highlighted potential opportunities in the semiconductor sector driven by increasing demand for AI technologies.

Moreover, Lee anticipates positive developments in the construction, property, and renewable energy sectors within Malaysia, buoyed by strong policy execution momentum. She also expects a recovery in global smartphones and PCs to bolster sentiment towards local tech and manufacturing sectors.

The KMIF and KDF have shown remarkable performance with returns of 111.53% and 70.35% over ten years, respectively, as of 31 December 2023. These achievements mark KMIF's fourth title at the Awards.

The LSEG Lipper Fund Awards have been recognizing funds and fund management firms for over three decades based on their strong risk-adjusted performance relative to peers. The awards are determined through Lipper's quantitative, proprietary methodology, ensuring an independent assessment of fund performance.
