Kaohsiung's Strategic Showcase At Kumamoto Expo Wins Over Global Investors

In a significant stride towards industrial collaboration and revitalization, the Kaohsiung delegation, led by Deputy Mayor Lo Ta-sheng, concluded a fruitful visit to the KUMAMOTO Industrial Revitalization EXPO 2024. This visit not only showcased Kaohsiung's industrial capabilities but also marked a step forward in fostering closer ties between Taiwan and Japan in the semiconductor and startup sectors.

The two-day expo saw the Kaohsiung Pavilion attracting 830 international visitors, engaging with 50 potential buyers, and securing orders estimated at US$1,140,000. This achievement underscores the global interest in Kaohsiung's industrial offerings and its burgeoning reputation on the international stage. The pavilion served as a testament to Kaohsiung's thriving semiconductor industry and its commitment to fostering international business relations.

Kaohsiung Wins Big at Kumamoto Expo

Deputy Mayor Lo highlighted the mutual benefits of collaboration between Kaohsiung and Kumamoto, both recognized as semiconductor hubs. The visit aimed to promote synergy in wafer foundry, packaging, testing, materials, and equipment sectors. The delegation included representatives from four local semiconductor companies: 4DMEN Technology Co., Ltd., Taiwan Valqua Engineering International Ltd., Gongin Precision Ind. Co., Ltd., and Advanced Echem Materials Co., Ltd., aiming to enhance brand visibility and explore new business avenues.

Fostering Culinary and Startup Collaborations

The expo also facilitated fruitful discussions with Shinya Iwashita, CEO of Tsuruya Department Store subsidiary Amanatsu Royal Co., Ltd., who expressed interest in introducing Kaohsiung's food products to the Japanese market. This interaction highlights the potential for cross-cultural exchange and business opportunities in the food industry.

Additionally, an investment promotion seminar held in Fukuoka's startup hub Growth 1 attracted over 40 visitors from various startups. The seminar opened avenues for discussions on cooperation in IoT, smart medical devices, and green energy sectors. Fukuoka's designation as a National Strategic Special Zone for startups since 2012 positions it as an attractive destination for global startups seeking investment opportunities.

Advancing Towards Sustainable Development

The delegation's visit to the Fukuoka Hydrogen Station underscored Kaohsiung's commitment to carbon reduction and sustainable development. As a major industrial city aiming for net zero by 2050, Kaohsiung is keen on exploring innovative green energy solutions.

Meetings with the Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Kyushu University further solidified intentions to bolster exchanges in the semiconductor industry. Both regions are set on enhancing academic and technological cooperation to support education, research, and make their semiconductor industries more competitive.

This successful visit not only showcased Kaohsiung's industrial strengths but also paved the way for future collaborations between Taiwan and Japan in various sectors. The mutual interest in semiconductor development, startup ecosystem growth, and sustainable practices promises a dynamic partnership that could lead to significant advancements in both regions.
