4th Annual Juneteenth Honors Festival To Celebrate Black Achievements In DC
The National Juneteenth Foundation, a prominent organisation advocating for the recognition of Juneteenth as a federal holiday, is set to host its 4th annual Juneteenth Honors Festival. This exclusive event aims to celebrate the significant contributions of Black Americans across various professional fields.
This year's festival will feature intimate musical performances in a TinyDesk style, headlined by Musiq Soulchild and featuring recording artist Maysa and the Howard Gospel Choir. Previous editions have seen performances by Ashanti, Lalah Hathaway, Maxwell, and TI.

Past honorees include notable figures such as Cathy Hughes, Tamika Mallory, Herbie Hancock, and Congresswoman Maxine Waters. The 2024 honorees list includes Dr. Clarence B. Jones, a Presidential Lifetime Achievement awardee who served as attorney and speechwriter to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Juneteenth Foundation has partnered with educational institutions and major corporate sponsors like General Motors, Santander Bank, and T-Mobile to award over $100,000 in scholarships to 20 deserving HBCU students this year. This initiative aims to support and celebrate Black culture, achievement, and excellence.
