Composer Jo Kondo Honoured With The 55th Suntory Music Award For His Impact On Music In Japan

The Suntory Foundation for the Arts has recently announced Jo Kondo as the laureate of the prestigious 55th Suntory Music Award. This accolade is bestowed upon individuals or groups who have significantly contributed to the evolution of Western-style music within Japan. Following a rigorous two-stage selection process, the Foundation's Board of Directors unanimously selected Kondo for this honor, accompanied by a prize of ￥7,000,000.

With over 180 compositions to his name, ranging from solo pieces to orchestral and electronic works, his music has enjoyed widespread performance and publication.
