Pursuit Church Leads Interfaith March For Israel At Columbia University Amid Tensions
In a significant display of solidarity, The Pursuit Church, based in Seattle, Washington, is set to organize a United March for Israel at Columbia University on Thursday, April 25, 2024. This event comes as a response to the escalating tension and violence on the university campus. The march will be accompanied by a session of prayer and worship, aiming to foster peace and understanding.
Russell Johnson, the Pastor of Pursuit Church, previously orchestrated a similar march in Seattle following the October 7th attacks on Israel. That march, which took place at the University of Washington, saw collaborations with StandWithUs, Oregon for Israel, and featured Mosab Hassan Yousef, known as the "Son of Hamas," as a special guest speaker. This time, Pastor Johnson is teaming up with notable figures such as Eric Metaxas and Sean Feucht from Let Us Worship and Hold the Line, alongside Oregon for Israel and several other groups for an interfaith show of support for Israel.

Pastor Johnson is no stranger to political activism within Seattle. His involvement in the CHOP ("the Summer of Love") takeover in 2020 has given him a unique perspective on the current situation at Columbia University. The Pursuit Northwest operates as a non-denominational church with campuses in Seattle, Kirkland, Snohomish, and an online presence. Their mission is to glorify Jesus Christ and to bring individuals into an encounter with God's presence.
The collaboration for this march includes a diverse group of organizations and individuals committed to showing their support for Israel during these turbulent times. The event not only aims to address the immediate tensions but also serves as a platform for interfaith dialogue and unity.
This initiative by The Pursuit Church and its partners underscores the importance of community and solidarity in facing global challenges. By coming together in prayer and support for Israel, they hope to make a positive impact amidst the ongoing conflicts.
