India Sets Up Arabic Helpline To Support Tourists And Visitors

India's Ministry of Tourism has launched an Arabic-language helpline to assist tourists from Arabic-speaking nations and provide support if they encounter difficulties while travelling in India.

This initiative was announced by the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in the Lok Sabha, India's lower House of Parliament.

The toll-free helpline number 1800111363 will offer assistance and services related to travel information within India. The Minister stated that this service aims to enhance the travel experience for tourists.

Additionally, short code 1363 will provide similar support in 12 foreign languages, including Arabic. Among Indian languages, Hindi will be available for assistance. English is also included as one of the foreign languages due to its widespread use in India.

Short codes are shorter than regular telephone numbers and are used for multimedia messages (MMS) and short messages (SMS) within mobile network systems. This makes it easier for tourists to access help quickly.

"With efforts by the Ministry of Tourism, 15 state governments and union territory administrations have deployed special tourist police to help tourists," Shekhawat said.

The Minister expressed hope that these facilities would make travel in India more convenient and enjoyable for international visitors. The availability of information in multiple languages is expected to significantly improve their travel experience.

These measures reflect India's commitment to providing a welcoming environment for tourists from around the world. By offering multilingual support, the Ministry aims to ensure that language barriers do not hinder the travel experiences of visitors.

The introduction of this helpline is part of broader efforts by the Indian government to boost tourism and ensure that travellers have access to necessary information and assistance at all times.

This initiative underscores the importance of catering to diverse linguistic needs and enhancing overall tourist satisfaction. It highlights India's proactive approach in making travel safer and more accessible for everyone.

The new helpline service is expected to play a crucial role in addressing any issues faced by tourists promptly, thereby contributing positively to their overall experience in India.
