Hyundai And Kia Unveil DAL-e Robot To Transform Indoor Delivery Services

Hyundai Motor and Kia have recently introduced an advanced version of their DAL-e Delivery robot, a significant step forward in the realm of delivery services. This innovative robot is specifically designed to enhance the efficiency of food and beverage (F&B) and parcel delivery, particularly in challenging environments like offices and shopping malls. With its autonomous driving capabilities and face identification technology, the DAL-e Delivery robot is set to redefine the standards of delivery performance.

The robot, an evolution of a model first introduced in 2022, boasts a top speed of 1.2 m/s and an improved suspension system for more stable transportation. Its design incorporates Plug & Drive (PnD) modules, which integrate a motor with steering, suspension, braking systems, and environmental recognition sensors. These features enable the robot to navigate through congested areas and around obstacles with ease.

One of the most notable enhancements in this version is its increased cargo capacity. The DAL-e Delivery robot can now carry up to 16 cups of coffee or transport items weighing up to 10 kg. Despite its smaller size compared to the previous model, it offers a larger internal cargo space, equipped with a subtle light for easy item recognition and a storage tray that extends when the door opens, facilitating convenient loading and unloading.

The robot's autonomous driving feature is particularly impressive, allowing it to move across all building floors and interact with elevator and door control systems seamlessly. It calculates optimal routes in real-time, ensuring quick and efficient delivery services. Additionally, the robot features an 11.6-inch high-resolution display that not only shows essential information like destination and operation status but also displays animated facial expressions to enhance customer interaction.

Hyundai Motor and Kia have announced plans to deploy the DAL-e Delivery robot at IGIS Asset Management's 'Factorial Seongsu' in Seoul during the second quarter of this year. The smart office building, which is set to open in April, has been designed with robots in mind, making it an ideal environment for this innovative delivery solution. This deployment marks a significant milestone in Hyundai Motor and Kia's partnership with IGIS to commercialize robot-friendly buildings.

The sleek metal-like aesthetic of the DAL-e Delivery robot, combined with its discreetly integrated sensors, not only makes it visually appealing but also highly functional in various settings. As Hyundai Motor and Kia continue to explore the potential of robotic technology in everyday scenarios, the DAL-e Delivery robot stands as a testament to their commitment to innovation and efficiency in delivery services.
