Hyundai IONIQ 5 Robotaxi Passes Driver’s License Test To Demonstrate ‘Uncompromised Safety’

In a groundbreaking move that merges the future of mobility with the present, Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled a campaign film that showcases the IONIQ 5 robotaxi's remarkable ability to complete a series of driving tests akin to those required for a U.S. driver's license. This initiative is part of Hyundai's broader 'Progress for Humanity' vision, which emphasizes inclusivity and the goal of providing mobility freedom to everyone. The campaign film, set against the backdrop of Las Vegas, U.S., demonstrates the IONIQ 5 robotaxi's autonomous driving technology, developed in collaboration with Motional, navigating through various driving scenarios with precision.

The narrative is enriched by the personal story of Pearl Outlaw, a visually impaired American who dreams of independent mobility, a dream that the IONIQ 5 robotaxi promises to fulfill. The film captures the essence of Hyundai's mission to offer safe and reliable autonomous vehicle technology that can cater to individuals with mobility challenges. Kandice Jones, a DMV Certified Driving Examiner with 25 years of experience, conducted the test and was impressed by the robotaxi's performance in speed control, lane changes, and reaction time among other criteria.
