Hyundai Joins Savannah's 200th St. Patrick's Day Parade With Festive Float

On the morning of Saturday, March 16, 2024, Hyundai Motor America and Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) marked a significant milestone by participating in the 200th Anniversary of the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Savannah, Georgia. This event underscored Hyundai's integration into the Savannah community and celebrated a historic occasion with a specially crafted 20-foot parade float. This float was adorned with representations of Savannah's iconic landmarks, from the majestic Savannah City Hall to the picturesque Live Oak Avenue, encapsulating the city's architectural and natural beauty.

The parade also featured Hyundai's fully-electric IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 vehicles, wrapped in designs that echoed the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. Employees of HMGMA added to the festivities by walking alongside the float, engaging with the community and demonstrating their enthusiasm for being part of this vibrant celebration. Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, expressed honor in participating in such a culturally significant event and highlighted the opportunity to connect with the community and reinforce Hyundai's commitment to Savannah's traditions.

Oscar Kwon, CEO of HMGMA, emphasized the parade as a demonstration of Hyundai's dedication to becoming a cornerstone employer in Savannah. The inclusion of the new HMGMA water tower on the float, designed by students from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), symbolized HMGMA’s future in electric vehicle (EV) production in the area.
