Seeking Host Families For Foreign Exchange Students In U.S. Cultural Programs

ASSE International Student Exchange Programs (ASSE) is seeking families to host students aged 15-18 this fall. These students will attend community high schools as part of U.S. Department of State cultural exchange programs. Hosting a foreign high school exchange student is a popular way for Americans to make a positive impact.

ASSE encourages families to participate in shaping future leaders from countries such as Germany, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Morocco. These scholarship students are selected through rigorous competition, demonstrating their drive to succeed. Trained evaluators choose students based on their ability to adapt and thrive in a new culture for a year.

Hosts Needed for Exchange Students

Each year, tens of thousands of top students compete for one of approximately 2,000 spots in the CBYX, FLEX, and YES programs. Whether you are a young family, retired, a single parent, or empty nesters, hosting one of these students offers an opportunity to learn firsthand about their countries while teaching them about the United States and your community's values.

Department of State Scholarship Students have pocket money from personal or scholarship funds and are covered by accident and illness insurance. They also contribute to their American communities through volunteering and community service. The students express gratitude for the opportunity to live with American families and communities for a school year.
