Over HKD 6 Million In Prizes Awarded In Hong Kong Diamond Federation's Grand Lucky Draw

The Diamond Federation of Hong Kong (DFHK), in collaboration with over 350 jewellery shops, recently concluded the "Happy Hong Kong Natural Diamond Grand Lucky Draw" on December 1, 2023. This event marked a significant moment for the local jewellery industry, drawing an enthusiastic participation that culminated in 157 individuals winning prizes. The total value of these prizes exceeded HKD 6 million, encompassing natural diamonds and shopping vouchers for diamond jewellery. The grand prize, a highlight of the ceremony, was a 3-carat D colour natural diamond, valued at approximately HKD 1.9 million, coupled with an HKD 5,000 shopping voucher.

During the award ceremony, members of DFHK and Legislative Council member (Wholesale and Retail) Mr. SHIU Ka-fai, JP, presented the prizes. The event not only celebrated the lucky winners but also showcased the allure and value of natural diamonds. Among the winners was Mrs. HO, who expressed her delight at winning the grand prize, attributing her trust in Hong Kong's jewellery industry to its high quality, professional service, and strict regulations.

Mr. Victor Yiu, Chairman of DFHK, highlighted the positive impact of the festive season on consumer sentiment. He noted that nearly 12 million visitors came to Hong Kong over three months, contributing to a significant increase in retail sales. Specifically, December 2023 and January 2024 saw retail sales reaching HKD 72.8 billion, with jewellery, watches, and luxury gifts experiencing an average year-on-year increase of 37%. Yiu expressed optimism for the local diamond industry's recovery and growth prospects.

To enhance consumer confidence in purchasing jewellery in Hong Kong, DFHK and the Jewellers' and Goldsmiths' Association of Hong Kong have introduced four quality assurance marks: "Natural Fei Cui Quality Mark", "Natural Diamond Quality Assurance Mark", "Quality Gold Mark", and "Reputation Shop Mark". These initiatives aim to maintain Hong Kong's reputation as "Asia's Diamond Shopping Paradise" and ensure customer satisfaction.

The successful conclusion of the "Happy Hong Kong Natural Diamond Grand Lucky Draw" not only celebrated the winners but also underscored the resilience and appeal of Hong Kong's jewellery industry.
