Honda Racing UK Sets Stage For 2024 With Promising Pre-Season Test
Honda Racing has officially kicked off its 2024 campaign with a comprehensive three-day pre-season shakedown test at the Circuit Andalucia in Spain. This event marked the introduction of new machinery and team members, setting the stage for what promises to be an engaging season ahead. Among the highlights was Dean Harrison's debut on the road-spec Superbike, as he took the Honda Fireblade through its paces, including a crucial tyre test in preparation for his road racing season.
Nathan Harrison, another key roads teammate, dedicated his time to familiarizing himself with the Superstock machinery he will pilot in the NW200 and Isle of Man TT races. His focus was on establishing a solid base setting for the new Fireblade and accumulating valuable testing mileage. Meanwhile, Jack Kennedy celebrated his return to British Supersport by taking the CBR600RR for a spin, adjusting his riding style to suit the class.

Tommy Bridewell and Andrew Irwin also participated in the test, riding Superstock Fireblades. Their aim was to reacquaint themselves with the bikes after the winter break and to explore the model updates. Notably absent was John McGuinness, who was engaged with Honda Motor Europe for the press launch of the Fireblade and CBR600RR in Portimao.
Following this intensive testing period, the Honda team is set to analyze their findings meticulously as they continue their preparations for the upcoming season. Their next scheduled track appearance is at the first Official BSB Test at Donington Park on April 6-7. Team Manager Javier Beltran shared his enthusiasm for the season ahead, highlighting the tests' significance for both the bikes and new team members.
Dean Harrison described his experience as both busy and productive, quickly feeling at ease within the team and with his Superbike and CBR600RR. His comprehensive tyre test yielded positive directions for future development. Nathan Harrison observed notable improvements in his lap times from his previous visit to Circuit Andalucia, crediting both the new bike and his personal progress.
Jack Kennedy lauded the team's infrastructure, professionalism, and organization, expressing confidence in his bike and his connection with the team. Tommy Bridewell valued the opportunity to understand better the mechanics of the Superstock bike, particularly focusing on its split throttle system. Andrew Irwin shared his excitement about returning to riding and his determination to focus on the upcoming season, leaving last year's challenges behind.
The test concluded smoothly, with Honda Racing satisfied with their performance and looking forward to future tests and competitions. The team's spirit remains high as they gear up for what promises to be an exciting racing season.
