Honda Marysville Plant Achieves Milestone With 15 Million Vehicles Produced
The Honda Marysville Auto Plant (MAP) in Ohio, a cornerstone of Honda's North American operations for over four decades, recently celebrated a significant achievement with the production of its 15 millionth vehicle. This milestone underscores the plant's enduring legacy and its pivotal role in Honda's expansion and innovation in the automotive industry. Bob Schwyn, Senior Vice President at Honda Development & Manufacturing of America, LLC, lauded the associates at MAP for their dedication and highlighted the plant's next ambitious phase: spearheading Honda's shift towards battery electric vehicle (BEV) production.
In a strategic move announced in October 2022, Honda unveiled a $700 million investment plan to establish the Ohio EV Hub. This initiative encompasses MAP, the East Liberty Auto Plant, Anna Engine Plant, and a new joint venture battery plant under construction near Jeffersonville, Ohio. Mike Zindars, MAP Plant Lead, expressed pride in MAP being chosen as the first Honda facility in North America to manufacture a Honda electric vehicle, attributing this honor to the associates' capability and commitment to meeting customer needs.

Since its inception on November 1, 1982, with the production of a Honda Accord Sedan, MAP has diversified its manufacturing portfolio. The plant currently produces the Accord, Accord Hybrid, and Acura TLX and Integra models, including Type S models for both Acura vehicles. The table below provides an overview of the models produced at MAP and their respective units produced:

Honda's journey in North America began with motorcycle production in Marysville in 1979. Over the years, Honda has significantly expanded its manufacturing footprint across the continent. Currently employing over 33,000 associates in North America across its 18 plants, Honda boasts an annual capacity to produce nearly four million engines and up to 1.86 million automobiles. In addition to vehicles and engines, these facilities also manufacture power equipment products and powersports products. Notably, in 2023 more than 99% of all U.S.-sold Honda and Acura automobiles were manufactured in North America using both domestic and globally sourced parts.
This extensive local production capability is part of Honda's broader commitment to North America—a commitment evidenced by over $25.7 billion invested in its manufacturing capabilities on the continent. This includes more than $2.8 billion invested over the past five years alone. As MAP embarks on its new chapter focusing on BEV production, it continues to play a crucial role in Honda's strategy for innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry.
