Hamburg To Host The 835th Port Anniversary With Maritime Spectacles And Tall Ships

Hamburg, 13 March 2024: The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is gearing up to host the 835th Hamburg Port Anniversary from May 9th to 12th, 2024. This year, the event promises a rich tapestry of maritime celebrations with Latvia stepping in as the international country partner. The festivities are set to commence with the International Ecumenical Opening Service at St. Michael’s main Church on Thursday at 2 p.m., followed by the much-anticipated arrival parade at 4 p.m., spearheaded by the frigate "Hamburg".

Among the event's traditional highlights, the unique tugboat ballet scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. and the departure parade on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. are expected to draw large crowds. Approximately 250 ships will make their way to Hamburg for the occasion, including the impressive tall ships "Dar Młodzieży" and "Alexander von Humboldt II". A special surprise show is set for Friday evening at 8:45 p.m. on a gigantic floating stage on the Elbe, promising a sea of lights and a memorable soundtrack.
