H&H's Motorcycle Sales Off To A Flying Start In 2024 With Market-Leading 88 Percent Sales Rate

In a remarkable display of vintage allure and mechanical heritage, H&H Classics' inaugural motorcycle and scooter auction of 2024 concluded with impressive results. Held on 27 March at the National Motorcycle Museum, the event saw a staggering 88 percent of the classic and collectible two-wheelers find new owners, amassing a total of over £800,000 in sales. Among the highlights, a 1951 Vincent Rapide Series C stood out, fetching £31,050 and significantly surpassing its pre-sale estimate.

The auction featured an eclectic mix of motorcycles and scooters spanning several decades, from a 1914 Juno to a 2010 Aprilia RSV4R. The Vincent Rapide, which had been part of an Isle of Man collection for 12 years and covered just 600 miles during that time, captivated bidders with its storied past. Mike Davis, head of department at H&H Classics, expressed delight at the auction's success and the vibrant bidding atmosphere that led to outstanding results for vendors.

Noteworthy sales also included a 1917 Sunbeam 8hp V-twin, discovered in a coal bunker and eventually selling for £10,580 after an international bidding war. From the inter-war period, a 1933 Excelsior racer attracted attention with its works forks, frame, and tank, achieving £13,800. A barn-found 1934 Rudge 500 Special, restored after 60 years of storage, and a c.1932 Coventry Eagle Silent Superb found in a loft were among other highlights.

The auction wasn't just about vintage marvels; modern classics also made their mark. A 1979 Honda CBX1000, after 40 years of single ownership, went for £10,350. Davis thanked all participants for their trust in H&H Classics and congratulated the successful bidders on their new acquisitions.

Looking ahead, H&H Classics will continue to cater to enthusiasts of classic two-wheelers with its next motorcycle and scooter sale scheduled for 3 July at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull. Additionally, the firm's upcoming classic, collectible, and performance car auction is set for 24 April at Pavilion Gardens in Buxton.
