New Gym Partnerships To Support Individuals With MS, Parkinson’s, And Strokes
The Chilterns Neuro Centre has recently announced its collaboration with the Gym at Halton, Tring Sports Centre, and Prestwood Gym and Fitness Centre. This partnership aims to extend additional out-of-hours support to individuals affected by MS, Parkinson’s, and stroke survivors. Recognizing the paramount importance of exercise for everyone, especially for those living with neurological conditions, this initiative seeks to enhance the accessibility and affordability of physical activity options.
Exercise plays a crucial role in managing and potentially slowing the progression of conditions such as MS, Parkinson’s disease, and the aftermath of strokes. The Chilterns Neuro Centre already offers a robust exercise program tailored to the unique needs of people with these conditions. This includes a mix of out-of-hours classes and numerous online sessions. However, the demand for more flexible scheduling options for those who are employed has led to the formation of these new partnerships.

Through these collaborations, members of the Chilterns Neuro Centre will now have the opportunity to participate in more out-of-hours exercise classes at reduced rates. Joe Harman, Exercise Lead and Musculoskeletal Therapist at the Centre, emphasized the significance of these partnerships. "To have access to facilities which aren’t defined by a person’s diagnosis will make a huge difference to how our members feel and whether they access exercise," Harman stated. He further highlighted that regular physical activity is instrumental in maintaining independence, strength, and functionality among individuals with neurological conditions.
The initiative underscores the Centre's commitment to supporting its members in managing their conditions effectively. Exercise is not just about physical well-being; it also plays a vital role in mental health, offering a sense of empowerment and control over one's condition. For those living with MS, Parkinson’s, or who are recovering from a stroke and believe they could benefit from these services, they are encouraged to reach out to the Chilterns Neuro Centre.
Interested individuals can contact the Chilterns Neuro Centre for more information on how to access these beneficial exercise programs. The Centre can be reached at 01296 696133 for further details on enrollment and participation.
