GS1 Hong Kong's 35th Anniversary Gala Celebrates Achievements And Honours Local Companies
GS1 Hong Kong celebrated its 35th anniversary with a grand gala dinner, marking over three decades of significant contributions to the local economy and supply chain standards. The event, graced by government officials and industry leaders, also served as a platform to honor local enterprises for their dedication to consumer care. Financial Secretary Paul Chan lauded GS1 Hong Kong for its pivotal role in supporting SMEs through the adoption of supply chain standards and digital technologies. He highlighted the government's initiatives aimed at bolstering Hong Kong's digital economy, including infrastructure enhancement and the promotion of data-driven strategies.
One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of the Digital Transformation Awards by GS1 Hong Kong. This new accolade is designed to acknowledge companies that have excelled in implementing digitalization to boost their competitiveness. Additionally, the 13th edition of the Consumer Caring Scheme Award Presentation Ceremony saw 85 local enterprises being recognized for their consumer-centric practices. Notably, 29 of these companies have been consistent in their commitment to consumer care for a decade or more.

Anna Lin, Chief Executive of GS1 Hong Kong, stressed the importance of integrating consumer caring principles into business operations to align with societal expectations on social responsibility and employee well-being. She commended the high percentage of businesses that have steadfastly adhered to a customer-first approach and encouraged more companies to join the scheme. May Chung, Chairman of GS1 Hong Kong Board of Directors, expressed her gratitude towards all attendees and unveiled a book titled "由零到+01" to commemorate the organization's milestone anniversary. The book narrates the evolution of barcodes in Hong Kong and GS1 HK's contributions to the economy.
The gala was not just about awards and speeches; it also featured entertainment activities such as a LED flag show, singing performances by executives, and a finale by Cantonpop superstar Elisa Chan. The evening concluded with Best Dress Awards and lucky draw sessions, adding a festive atmosphere to the celebration.
Since its inception in 1989, GS1 Hong Kong has been at the forefront of empowering businesses through digital transformation. With nearly 8,000 corporate members across 20 sectors, it plays a crucial role in enhancing supply chain visibility and efficiency, ensuring product authenticity, facilitating commerce connectivity, and enabling sustainable value chains. As a non-profit organization with its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, GS1 has established over 115 national chapters in 150 countries worldwide, fostering a collaborative ecosystem among trading partners, industry organizations, government bodies, and technology providers.
