Citroën Chooses Goodyear Tires For Its Electric ë-C3 In Move Towards Sustainability
The partnership between Goodyear and Citroën takes a significant step forward in the pursuit of sustainable mobility, with the announcement that Goodyear's EfficientGrip Performance 2 tires will be fitted on the new all-electric Citroën ë-C3. This collaboration underscores both companies' dedication to innovation and their shared vision for an eco-friendly automotive future.
Announced on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, in Brussels, Belgium, this move is more than just a supply agreement. It represents a mutual commitment to enhancing electric vehicle (EV) performance and efficiency. The Citroën ë-C3 emerges as the first all-European designed and manufactured affordable small car that does not compromise on quality, experience, or comfort. Goodyear's contribution to this vehicle comes in the form of the EfficientGrip Performance 2 tires, specifically designed for summer conditions but with features that significantly benefit electric vehicles.

The EfficientGrip Performance 2 tires are engineered to offer ultra-low rolling resistance, a critical factor in increasing an EV's range. Additionally, their flexible tread pattern is designed to withstand rough road surfaces, thereby enhancing durability. This tire not only meets the demands of electric mobility but also aligns with Goodyear's "Ready for EV" strategy, which introduces two new labels: Electric Drive Technology (EDT) and Electric Drive Ready (EDR). These labels signify the incorporation of technologies tailored for electrified vehicles, focusing on load capacity, handling, and noise reduction.
Johannes Moll, Managing Director Consumer OE at Goodyear EMEA, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: "Goodyear is delighted to have been chosen by Citroën to equip the new ë-C3. Our EfficientGrip Performance 2 offers a summer solution that perfectly complements the ë-C3’s modern electric capabilities, showcasing our commitment to delivering innovative solutions for electric vehicles and the future of electric mobility."
This collaboration is not the first instance of Goodyear and Citroën working together towards sustainability. In 2022, Goodyear developed the Eagle GO concept tire for Citroën's concept car, Oli. The tread compound of this tire was made almost entirely from sustainable or recycled materials. The latest OE fitment to the ë-C3 is a testament to the ongoing commitment of both companies to drive sustainability in the automotive industry through innovation.
