Goodwood Prepares For The 81st Members’ Meeting With Classic Races And Sustainability Focus
The 81st Members' Meeting, a prestigious event in the motorsport calendar, is set to ignite the Goodwood Motor Circuit with high-octane action on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th April. Presented by Audrain Motorsport, this year's gathering promises an array of 13 races featuring an eclectic mix of vehicles from classic tin-top cars and GTs to motorcycles and the high-speed open-wheeled Formula 3 and Formula 1 machines.
Highlighting the event's commitment to sustainability, two races—the Ken Miles Cup presented by LGT Wealth Management and the Gordon Spice Trophy—will exclusively use sustainable fuels. This initiative not only underscores the event's environmental consciousness but also sets a new standard for motorsport events globally. Additionally, an exciting first for the Members' Meeting will see eight modern racing sidecars taking to the track in a display of speed and skill.
The Can-Am celebration is another cornerstone of the event, showcasing an impressive lineup of racing cars from the golden era of 1966 to 1974. This assembly will feature legendary models from McLaren, Shadow, and Porsche, offering spectators a glimpse into motorsport's illustrious past. Furthermore, a special on-track demonstration will pay homage to Niki Lauda, celebrating the legacy of the three-time Formula 1 World Champion.
Rising star Jamie Chadwick, known for her achievements in Indy NXT and as a three-time W Series Champion, is set to make her Goodwood racing debut. Chadwick will be behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang in the Ken Miles Cup and will also participate in the Gordon Spice Trophy, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.
A significant change this year will see new House Captains—Andy Priaulx, Tom Kristensen, Gordon Shedden, and Dario Franchitti—leading the competition for the House Shield. This shift introduces fresh dynamics into the traditional rivalry among participants.
For those unable to attend in person, the highlights of this spectacular event will be broadcast on ITV1 on Monday 22nd April. Additionally, live coverage will be available on the Goodwood Road & Racing YouTube channel, ensuring fans worldwide won't miss out on any action.
The Members' Meeting aims to recapture the spirit and camaraderie of the original BARC Members' Meetings held at Goodwood during the 1950s and 1960s. This exclusive event is hosted for members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club (GRRC), a community that shares a deep passion for motorsport. Membership to this prestigious club is open to enthusiasts through joining the Goodwood Road Racing Club Fellowship.
Audrain Motorsport, as the presenter of this iconic event, continues to offer curated immersive automotive experiences for enthusiasts eager to engage with both cars and motorcycles. The 81st Members' Meeting at Goodwood is not just a celebration of motorsport's history but also a forward-looking gathering that embraces sustainability and innovation in racing.
