General Motors Celebrates Excellence In Global Supply Chain With 2023 Supplier Awards

In a notable event held in Miami, General Motors (GM) celebrated the exceptional contributions of its global suppliers by awarding 86 companies with the prestigious Supplier of the Year accolade for 2023. Additionally, eight suppliers were honored with the Overdrive Awards, a recognition for surpassing GM's expectations through outstanding performance and innovation. Jeff Morrison, GM's vice president of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, lauded the awardees for their pivotal role in GM's ongoing transformation towards pioneering new technologies and enhancing vehicle quality for consumers.

The selection process for these awards is rigorous, involving a global, cross-functional team from GM that evaluates suppliers based on their performance, innovation, alignment with GM’s values, and their commitment to GM’s ambitious goals. The GPSC Priority Wheel, a framework emphasizing customer focus in supply chain decisions, plays a crucial role in guiding this process. It highlights core values such as Safety, Inclusion, and Relationships, alongside priorities like Sustainability, Innovation, Execution, Resilience, and Profitability.

Another showcased exceptional safety standards by opening a 600,000-square-foot facility in just five days to speed up parts delivery.

Among the celebrated suppliers of the year are industry leaders such as Adient, DY Auto Corporation, Kirchhoff Automotive, and Schaeffler. The list also includes companies across various sectors including logistics, technology, and manufacturing like Ascent Global Logistics, ExxonMobil Product Solutions, and Sensata Technologies. This diverse group of awardees reflects the broad spectrum of expertise and services that contribute to GM’s success.

The Overdrive Award winners for 2023 include Adient, Dedicated Logistics LLC, Gallagher-Kaiser Corporation, and Moon Star Express LLC among others. These companies have set high standards in their respective fields by introducing innovative solutions and maintaining exceptional performance levels.

General Motors is at the forefront of the automotive industry’s shift towards an all-electric future. Central to this vision is the Ultium battery platform that powers a wide range of vehicles from mass-market models to high-performance cars. GM and its subsidiaries sell vehicles under several brands including Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Baojun, and Wuling. The company also owns OnStar, a leader in vehicle safety and security services. More information about GM’s vision and its brands can be found on their official website.
