Formerra Announces Strategic Alliance With Evonik For High-Performance Material Distribution

Formerra, a leading distributor of engineered materials, has recently unveiled a strategic partnership with Evonik, the renowned global leader in the production of PA12 and high-performance polyamides. This collaboration marks a significant step for Formerra, enabling the company to distribute Evonik’s polyamides and sustainable materials across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Furthermore, these materials will also be available in Mexico, thanks to Formerra's acquisition of Suministro de Especialidades.

The materials included in this distribution agreement encompass a wide range of Evonik’s products, such as VESTAMID® L POLYAMIDE 12, VESTAMID® E POLYAMIDE 12 ELASTOMER, VESTAMID® D POLYAMIDE 612, and TROGAMID® CX. Additionally, sustainable grades like VESTAMID® eCO (PA12), VESTAMID® RFP (PA12), and VESTAMID® Terra (PA610 and PA1010) are part of the portfolio.

Doug Zupan, Vice President of Operations at Formerra, shared his enthusiasm about this new partnership. He highlighted that joining forces with Evonik strengthens Formerra’s ability to supply superior materials for critical applications in sectors such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial. Zupan emphasized Evonik’s commitment to sustainable solutions and its reputation in high-performance polyamide production as key factors that align with Formerra’s vision.

Craig Schmidter, Americas Director of Granules and Compounds at Evonik, also commented on the partnership. He noted Formerra’s extensive network and deep technical support as pivotal for the distribution of Evonik’s polyamide products. Schmidter underscored that Formerra’s capabilities make it an ideal partner for Evonik, especially in delivering the technical material selection and engineering support necessary for incorporating high-performance materials into various applications.

The collaboration between Formerra and Evonik is set to open new avenues for both companies. With Evonik’s products, Formerra aims to penetrate new markets such as aerospace and oil & gas. The partnership is focused on providing substantial benefits to customers, fueling innovation across multiple markets. Additionally, Formerra will offer support in logistics, warehousing, technical service, and speed to market to both current and future customers.

Next month, Formerra is scheduled to exhibit at NPE2024: The Plastics Show. The event will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, where Formerra will be located at booth S39025.
