Fragrance Creators Association Funds FDA For Cosmetics Act Modernization

The Fragrance Creators Association (FCA) and its CEO, Farah K. Ahmed, recently expressed their approval of the new funding allocated for the implementation of the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (MoCRA). This funding, amounting to $7 million, was included in the minibus package that President Biden signed into law last weekend. This financial support is aimed at assisting the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in updating the cosmetics regulatory framework, a project that is expected to extend beyond 2024.

In a further development, the FDA has outlined its budget request for fiscal year 2025 (FY25), seeking an additional $8 million for MoCRA implementation. This request comes in anticipation of the passage of the remaining fiscal year 2024 appropriations bills. The FCA has called on Congress to ensure that this funding is secured, emphasizing the importance of basing appropriations on sound science, safety, and innovation.
