Erin Schallhorn Powers Brings Two Decades Of Experience To Holland Foundation Board
Erin Schallhorn Powers, with a robust background spanning nearly two decades in the ophthalmic sector, has recently been appointed to the board of directors at the Holland Foundation for Sight Restoration. Throughout her career, Powers has demonstrated her expertise by holding pivotal roles in strategic planning, marketing, and both commercial and medical affairs at some of the industry's leading companies such as Johnson & Johnson Vision, Zeiss, Alcon, and AMO/VISX.
"I am immensely honored to join the Holland Foundation for Sight Restoration Board of Directors," Powers stated, highlighting her deep-rooted connection to ophthalmology through her family. With a father, sister, and brother who are all ophthalmologists, Powers considers eye care not just a profession but her life's passion. Her commitment to improving lives through enhanced eye care aligns with the foundation's mission to serve those with unmet needs in this field.

Powers is not only recognized for her professional achievements but also for her active involvement in various ophthalmic organizations. She has held significant positions including the immediate past-President of the Ophthalmic World Leaders organization and serves on several boards including the International Society of Refractive Surgery and the Oracle Vision Council. Additionally, she is a Co-Chair of the Women of Dartmouth Development Committee and a member of the Chief network.
The Holland Foundation for Sight Restoration, where Powers has taken on a new role, is committed to restoring sight based on the pioneering work of Dr. Edward Holland. Dr. Holland's Cincinnati Protocol has been a beacon of hope for patients suffering from Severe Ocular Surface Disease, offering them a chance at regaining their vision.
Dr. Holland expressed his enthusiasm about Powers joining the board, confident that her involvement will significantly contribute to the foundation's ongoing success in sight restoration efforts. Powers shared a personal anecdote about losing a brother whose corneas were donated for transplantation, further solidifying her dedication to making corneal transplants more accessible through her work with the foundation.
The Holland Foundation for Sight Restoration operates as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on facilitating corneal transplantation for patients grappling with Severe Ocular Surface Disease. By providing financial support to surgeons and patients nationwide, the foundation aims to ensure access to advanced care necessary for restoring sight.
