Egypt To Start 'Sooner Is Safer' Cancer Detection Drive In Nine Governorates on June 30

Egypt's Ministries of Social Solidarity and Health and Population are initiating the "Sooner is Safer" campaign in nine governorates, promoting early detection and treatment of various cancerous tumors.

This coincides with the Presidential Initiative for Early Detection and Treatment of Cancer Tors, which set a new world in June 2023 for the largest cancer awareness sign in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The campaign will launch in Cairo, Qalyubia, Beheira, Damietta, Alexandria, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Assiut, and Sohag governorates. Daily campaign hours will run from 10 am to 6 pm. Services provided under the President's initiatives supporting women's health will be included in the campaign, such as early detection and treatment of liver cancer patients as well as early detection and treatment of lung, colon, prostate, and cervical cancerous tumors.

Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, announced that the "Sooner is Safer" campaign will focus on women aged 18 and older. Sponsored by the Ministries of Health, Population, and Social Solidarity, the campaign aims to raise awareness about early detection through the involvement of 3,000 social leaders encouraging citizens to participate and ensure their health.

Al-Kabbaj emphasized that Social Solidarity is committed to supporting the Ministry of Health and Population in enhancing family and women's health. This collaboration includes coordination between intermediate and grassroots civil associations close to society through the "Equal Opportunities" program funded by the state budget for social solidarity.

The minister also highlighted the importance of cooperation between Directorates of Health and Population and Directorates of Social Solidarity. She noted that social pioneers' energies and relationships should be utilized to raise awareness and mobilize citizens for early detection and reassurance about their health.
