Francis House Trustee Eamonn O'Neal Named High Sheriff Of Greater Manchester Again

Eamonn O'Neal has been named the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, marking a historic moment as he is appointed to this prestigious role for the second time, under the reign of two different monarchs. This announcement was made by Buckingham Palace on March 13, with O'Neal set to begin his term in April, following the conclusion of Mary Elizabeth Walker's tenure. O'Neal, a respected figure in broadcasting and journalism, as well as a trustee for Francis House Children’s Hospice, expressed his gratitude and humility upon receiving this honour.

O'Neal's connection to Francis House Children's Hospice is particularly noteworthy. Since joining the board of trustees in May 2023, he has been an active supporter of the hospice's mission to provide comprehensive care and support to over 600 families across Greater Manchester. This includes a wide range of services from respite care to bereavement support for children and young adults facing life-limiting conditions. David Ireland, chief executive of Francis House, praised O'Neal's reappointment, highlighting the positive impact of trustees engaging with the community.
