DHL Supply Chain To Open New Warehouse In Southern Malaysia To Meet Logistics Demand
In a significant move to bolster its logistics infrastructure in Southern Malaysia, DHL Supply Chain has unveiled plans for a new warehouse facility, marking a substantial EUR 5.2 million investment. This development is poised to add 10,000 square meters of warehouse space to the company's already impressive portfolio of 236,000 square meters across Malaysia. The facility, known as the South Region Hub, is strategically located in the Free Trade Zone of Johor's Senai Airport City, enhancing DHL Supply Chain's connectivity and operational efficiency in the region.
The South Region Hub is not just another addition to DHL Supply Chain's expansive network; it represents a strategic effort to meet the increasing demands of various sectors such as automotive, technology, cloud business, and data centers. With its prime location just 10 minutes from the North-South Expressway and Senai International Airport, the hub ensures faster delivery times and reinforces DHL Supply Chain's commitment to elevating logistics standards in Southern Malaysia and beyond.

Mario Lorenz, Managing Director of DHL Supply Chain Malaysia, emphasized the significance of this launch, stating, "With the launch of the South Region Hub as our 24th facility in Malaysia, we are looking to elevate the standards of logistics in the Southern region and beyond. This investment reflects our confidence in Johor's potential as an epicenter for regional distribution." The construction of this state-of-the-art facility is set to be undertaken by local developer Eastern Group and is expected to be operational by Q1 2025.
Moreover, the South Region Hub aligns with DHL Supply Chain's global commitment to sustainability. The facility will operate on a carbon-neutral basis, incorporating eco-friendly features such as solar panels, smart LED lighting, and rainwater harvesting solutions. This initiative underscores DHL Supply Chain's dedication to pioneering sustainable logistics solutions.
This new facility is part of a broader strategy by DHL Supply Chain to invest EUR350 million in Southeast Asia over the next four years, with EUR131 million earmarked specifically for Malaysia. These investments are aimed at expanding warehousing capacity, workforce, and sustainability initiatives within the country. In addition to the South Region Hub, DHL Supply Chain plans to open three more facilities across Malaysia – two in Penang and one in the Central region – further solidifying its logistics network throughout the country.
The inauguration of the South Region Hub is a testament to DHL Supply Chain's ongoing efforts to enhance its service offerings and operational efficiency in Malaysia and Southeast Asia at large. As industries continue to evolve and demand for warehousing solutions grows, DHL Supply Chain's strategic investments ensure it remains at the forefront of providing innovative and sustainable logistics services.
