Industry Giants Launch The Largest Construction And Cleantech Startup Competition
Today marks an important milestone in the construction and cleantech industries with the commencement of the Construction Startup Competition 2024. This event stands as the largest platform for startups in these sectors, offering a unique blend of competition, networking, and exposure to the leading players in the industry. The competition is hosted by a consortium of major industry stakeholders including Cemex Ventures, Caterpillar, Dysruptek by Haskell, Ferrovial, Hilti, VINCI Group’s Leonard, NOVA by Saint-Gobain, Trimble, and Zacua Ventures. These hosts have opened the call for innovative startups around the globe to participate in the 8th edition of this prestigious competition.
The Construction Startup Competition is dedicated to fostering innovation, collaboration, and technology adoption across four key focus areas: Green Construction (sustainability), Enhanced Productivity (efficiency), Construction Supply Chain (on time), and Future of Construction (disruptive). It serves as an invaluable platform for startups to connect with potential clients and partners, secure funding, pilot their solutions in global markets, and pitch to active investors and potential business partners in the industry. This year's competition highlights include cash prizes for three winners at Pitch Day during the Trimble Dimensions User Conference scheduled for November 11-13, 2024.

Over its seven-year history, the Construction Startup Competition has been instrumental in launching nearly 3,000 startups. These ventures have collectively raised over US$396 million in financing. Notably, more than one-third of the competition's winners have received investments from or are collaborating with one or more of the competition's hosts. Additionally, three Contech acceleration programs have utilized this competition as a qualified pipeline for building their cohorts.
Gonzalo Galindo, Head of Cemex Ventures, highlighted the impact of the competition: "Every year we receive hundreds of applications from Contech and Cleantech startups, some of which have gone on to become big names in the industry, receive hundreds of million dollars in investment, and commercialize and expand their companies."
