China's Booming 5G Market Expected To Contribute $260 Billion To Economy By 2030

The GSMA recently unveiled its "Mobile Economy China 2024" report, offering a comprehensive look into the future of 5G technology in China. According to the report, an impressive milestone is on the horizon, with over half of the mobile connections in China anticipated to be 5G by the end of 2024. China's major mobile operators, including CITIC Telecom, Huawei, and ZTE, have shown their support for the GSMA's Open Gateway initiative, underscoring the country's commitment to advancing its telecom infrastructure. With 1.28 billion unique mobile subscribers currently in China, the mobile sector's contribution to the national economy was a staggering $970 billion in 2023 alone. The forecast also suggests that by the end of 2024, the number of 5G connections in China will surpass 1 billion.

The surge in mobile internet usage is another highlight of the report, with an additional 290 million people in China accessing mobile internet over the past eight years. This increase is attributed to the expanded use of the 6 GHz spectrum band for 5G, positioning China as a global leader in this area.
