Cando Rail & Terminals Welcomes Nate Servis As Chief Financial Officer
Cando Rail & Terminals, a leading North American entity in the realm of first and last-mile rail infrastructure, recently announced a significant addition to its senior leadership team. Nate Servis has been appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), stepping into the role on March 26, 2024. This strategic move comes as Rick Soenen, the former CFO, enters retirement. Servis's transition into this pivotal position is marked by his extensive background in the Transportation & Logistics sector, accumulated over more than 15 years of experience on Wall Street.
Before joining Cando Rail & Terminals, Servis honed his expertise at Wells Fargo Securities, where he spent roughly 15 years. His tenure there culminated in the role of Managing Director within the Industrials group. In this capacity, Servis was instrumental in leading mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital raising transactions for clients across the Transportation & Logistics sector. His recent focus on the rail sector has equipped him with profound insights and connections across Class I and short line railroads, rail service providers, port and terminal operators, and investors targeting this niche.

Notably, Servis played a key role in the sale of Cando Rail & Terminals to AIMCo in November 2022, demonstrating his deep understanding of the company and its strategic imperatives. Brian Cornick, President & CEO of Cando Rail & Terminals, emphasized the significance of Servis's appointment. According to Cornick, as Cando Rail & Terminals pursues its ambitious growth plans, balancing organic expansion with strategic acquisitions is crucial. Servis's arrival is expected to bolster these efforts significantly.
Cornick also highlighted Servis's established relationships and credibility within key circles in the United States as a vital asset for Cando's strategic growth initiatives. With a track record of strategic finance achievements and a comprehensive grasp of the industry dynamics, Servis is poised to drive Cando Rail & Terminals towards achieving new milestones.
Prior to his impactful stint at Wells Fargo Securities, Servis embarked on his career at Robert W. Baird in the Consumer & Industrials investment banking group. He is a Dartmouth College alumnus, holding a B.A. in economics with a concentration in finance. This educational background, combined with his professional journey, lays a solid foundation for his new role at Cando Rail & Terminals.
The appointment of Nate Servis as CFO marks a new chapter for Cando Rail & Terminals as it navigates through an era of growth and expansion. With his wealth of experience and strategic insights, Servis is expected to play a critical role in shaping the future trajectory of the company.
