New Partnership Enhances Cambodia-Middle East Economic Relations
In a significant move that underscores the deepening economic ties between Asia and the Middle East, Cambodia's Bay of Lights development has entered into a strategic partnership with the United Arab Emirates' Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) Congress. This collaboration is not just a testament to the growing interest in Cambodia as a financial and tourism hub but also marks a crucial phase in the country's economic evolution.
The formalization of this partnership comes after nearly a year of discussions, insightful exchanges, and several visits by AIM's Director General to Cambodia. The agreement was signed at the newly inaugurated Business Center of Bay of Lights in Sihanoukville, with Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, Em Pheap, and His Excellency Dawood Al Shezawi, President of AIM Congress, leading the ceremony.

This partnership paves the way for AIM Congress Asia to be hosted in Sihanoukville, offering a unique platform for global investors and government officials to explore the vast opportunities that Cambodia has to offer. AIM Congress is renowned for its focus on foreign direct investment (FDI) opportunities, future cities, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), having attracted over 10,000 delegates from 175 countries and partnered with more than 500 exhibitors to foster economic growth and international collaboration.
The collaboration between Bay of Lights and AIM Congress aims to channel investments from the Middle East into Asia, thereby fostering growth and prosperity. A key project under this partnership is the development of Sihanoukville's first international Convention and Exhibition Center within Bay of Lights. Spanning 11 hectares, this state-of-the-art venue is designed to host global conventions and premier events, further establishing Cambodia as a key player on the international stage.
Looking ahead, another significant milestone is anticipated in May this year. During AIM Congress 2024 in Abu Dhabi, both parties are expected to finalize their joint development agreement, reinforcing their commitment to driving forward innovative development strategies that promise a prosperous future.
The synergy between Bay of Lights and AIM Congress symbolizes a dynamic phase in Cambodia's economic development, with both entities working together to transform Sihanoukville into a beacon of financial and tourism excellence in Asia. This strategic partnership not only highlights the potential for increased Middle Eastern investment in Asia but also sets the stage for further economic collaboration between these two diverse regions.
