Banff Sunshine Invites Thrill-Seekers To The 94th Slush Cup
An iconic tradition in the heart of the Canadian Rockies is set to mark its 94th year, as Banff Sunshine Village prepares to host the final splash of the 23/24 Winter Ski and Snowboard Season with its renowned Slush Cup. This event, celebrated as the longest-running end-of-ski-season pond skimming event in North America, draws skiers and snowboarders from across the globe. Scheduled for Slush Cup Monday on May 20, 2024, this festivity is a testament to Canada's enduring non-glacial ski season.
At this year's Slush Cup, 100 daring competitors will vie for the coveted titles of "Mrs. SLUSH CUP" and "Mr. SLUSH CUP," along with a cash prize of $1,000 and a season pass for the 24/25 Banff Sunshine ski season. The origins of this thrilling event date back to a friendly dare in the spring of 1928, evolving into what Kendra Scurfield, VP of Brand and Communications at Banff Sunshine Village, describes as "the coolest party in the Canadian Rockies."

The weekend-long celebration kicks off with the Slushshine Rail Jam on May 18th, followed by the Watergate Banked Slalom on May 19th. The festivities culminate with the legendary Slush Cup on May 20th, promising an unforgettable après party.
