Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Set For Exciting Debut In GT World Challenge
Aston Martin is gearing up for a significant presence in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS, fielding eight new Vantage GT3 cars across events at Paul Ricard and Sonoma Raceway. This move marks a notable return to the premier class of the GT World Challenge in Europe, a position Aston Martin has not held since 2022. The marque's commitment is further underscored by its partnership with Comtoyou Racing and Walkenhorst Motorsport, which will see a total of seven Aston Martin Vantage GT3s gracing the track.
Comtoyou Racing is set to manage four cars, including a Pro Cup entry piloted by the skilled trio of Marco Sørensen, Nicki Thiim, and Mattia Drudi. Additionally, they will field two Silver Cup cars and one Bronze Cup car. Walkenhorst Motorsport's lineup includes a Pro Cup entry with David Pittard, Henrique Chaves, and Ross Gunn at the helm, alongside a Silver Cup car and a Bronze Cup car. The GT4 European Series will also feature Aston Martin prominently, with eight Vantage GT4 cars making up nearly one-fifth of the grid. Moreover, the Pirelli GT4 America Championship will see participation from two cars from Heart of Racing and one from Flying Lizard Motorsports, bringing the total to 24 Aston Martin Vantages competing in SRO-run series this weekend.
Adam Carter, Aston Martin's Head of Endurance Motorsport, expressed optimism about the new Vantage GT3's prospects in the competition. "We are confident in the Vantage GT3's capabilities and look forward to seeing how it performs against the challenges of the GT World Challenge," he stated. The action kicks off with practice sessions for the GT World Challenge Europe opening round on Saturday, followed by the race on Sunday. Meanwhile, the GT World Challenge America will commence its practice on Friday, with races scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday.
This strategic deployment of resources highlights Aston Martin's ambition to assert its dominance in international motorsport arenas once again. With a robust lineup of teams and drivers, the brand is poised to make an impactful return to competitive racing at both Paul Ricard and Sonoma Raceway.
