Ascent Classical Academies To Open Irmo Campus At Temporary Site In 2024

Ascent Classical™ Academies has announced that its Irmo school will be temporarily located at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church for the 2024-2025 academic year. The church, situated at 6952 St Andrews Rd, Columbia, South Carolina, will accommodate grades K-8. To meet high demand, the school will add two extra sections: one for sixth grade and another for either fourth or fifth grade.

Ascent Classical™ is collaborating with church leadership and the City of Irmo to ensure that all classrooms are updated before the first day of classes on Aug. 8, 2024. This development marks a significant step for Ascent Classical™ Academy’s inaugural year. The tuition-free institution offers an American Classical Education and will initially serve grades K-8, with plans to expand to K-12 over time.

Irmo Campus Opens 2024 at Temporary Site

The classical education model at Ascent Classical™ focuses on a comprehensive education in the liberal arts and sciences. This includes daily fine arts and physical education classes. Students are required to wear uniforms and do not use technology in the classroom. Instead, they rely on teacher-led instruction and a content-rich curriculum delivered in a structured environment.

As a public charter school, Ascent Classical™ Academy is open to all students and is currently enrolling. Families interested in learning more about the school can visit irmo.ascentclassical.org to find information on upcoming parent meetings, review sample curriculum maps, and submit online applications.
