American Express Targets Caribbean For Network Expansion, Boosts Global Reach
The American Express network, renowned for facilitating billions of transactions worldwide, has recently announced a significant expansion in its global footprint. Now accepted at over 89 million locations, American Express has seen its international acceptance more than triple since 2017. This remarkable growth is attributed to strategic partnerships in various countries, including Nigeria, Vietnam, South Africa, South Korea, and Brazil. The next focus for American Express is enhancing its presence in the Caribbean, a region that attracted tens of millions of travelers last year.
Mohammed Badi, President of Global Network Services at American Express, emphasized the importance of meeting Card Members' needs wherever they travel. "Last year, tens of millions of travelers chose the Caribbean Islands as their destination. Wherever our Card Members go, Amex should be there," Badi stated. He highlighted the company's commitment to making American Express available for a wide range of transactions, from flights and hotel stays to local explorations.

As part of its expansion efforts, Badi recently visited Bermuda for discussions with Becca Moomjian, Director of Corporate Affairs & Communications at the Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son. This bank is one of American Express's key global network partners in the Caribbean. The talks focused on ways to grow the American Express network to better serve customers' everyday needs.
This expansion underscores American Express's dedication to broadening its acceptance network globally, ensuring that Card Members have the convenience and security of using their cards wherever they go. With a continually expanding reach and strong partnerships around the world, American Express is set to maintain its position as a leading financial services provider on a global scale.
