Affidea Enhances Oncology Services In Romania With MedEuropa Acquisition
In a significant move within the healthcare sector, Affidea Group, known as Europe's largest provider of advanced diagnostics and multi-speciality polyclinics, has announced its decision to acquire MedEuropa Romania, a leading cancer care provider. This acquisition marks a pivotal step for Affidea in enhancing its cancer care services in Romania, adding to its extensive European network.
MedEuropa Romania, with its expertise in advanced cancer treatments such as Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy, operates four medical centres across Romania in cities including Constanta, Bucharest, Brasov, and Oradea. Furthermore, plans are underway to open another centre in Iasi. This expansion is set to integrate seamlessly with Affidea's existing diagnostic and polyclinic portfolio in Romania.

Razvan Predica, Country CEO for Affidea Romania and Hungary, highlighted the critical nature of this acquisition against the backdrop of the ongoing battle against cancer in Romania. With around 100,000 individuals diagnosed with cancer annually in the country, this move aims to bolster the National Health System and provide comprehensive care to those affected by cancer.
Guy Blomfield, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board for Affidea Group, emphasized the importance of integrated service models in improving cancer survivorship outcomes. Affidea's approach focuses on early detection and diagnosis, alongside providing accessible radiotherapy services in community settings across Romania.
Philippe Jacobs and Silviu Savin of MedEuropa expressed their pride in establishing a network of clinics that deliver high-quality patient care and treatments across Romania. They see the integration into Affidea as an ideal solution for delivering optimal care and results for oncology patients.
The completion of this acquisition is pending approval from the Romanian Competition Council. Legal advisories for the deal included Rizoiu & Asociatii and Clifford Chance for Affidea Group, with Deloitte serving as financial advisor. The sellers were advised by Biris Goran and Linklaters.
