ACOFP Foundation Unveils Family Medicine Forward Campaign For Osteopathic Physicians

The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) Foundation has announced the launch of its latest initiative, the Family Medicine Forward campaign. This ambitious fundraising effort is designed to bolster leadership development for early career osteopathic family physicians and alumni who are poised to become future leaders. The campaign also aims to tackle significant challenges within the profession, such as enhancing community representation and improving patient support.

Paul A. Martin, DO, FACOFP dist., President of the ACOFP Foundation, emphasized the campaign's goal to adapt to the changing healthcare environment and underscore the pivotal role of early career osteopathic family physicians in the ongoing evolution of osteopathic family medicine. According to Martin, equipping these professionals with advanced leadership skills and mentorship is crucial for the betterment of patient health and community well-being.

New Campaign to Support Osteopathic Physicians

The Family Medicine Forward campaign was inaugurated at the ACOFP's 61st Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars in New Orleans. Over the next three years, it will seek to gather funds to support a variety of programs highly sought after by early career physicians. These include Future Leaders Next Level Conferences, personalized coaching, formal mentorship programs, alumni networking opportunities, and leadership development initiatives.

Carol L. Henwood, DO, FACOFP dist., Director of the ACOFP Foundation and Chair of the campaign, shared insights into the broader mission of ACOFP. Beyond patient care, Henwood highlighted the importance of mentoring future leaders to carry forward the legacy of osteopathic family medicine. The campaign is set to empower these emerging leaders, ensuring they are not only skilled physicians but also visionary leaders who will shape the future of healthcare.

The ACOFP Foundation encourages donations through its website (acofpfoundation.org) to support this cause. Contributions will aid in fostering a resilient future for the profession, characterized by compassionate care for patients and their families.
