AA Ireland Partners With Ohme For Enhanced Smart EV Charging Solutions

In a significant move towards promoting electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Ireland, Cork-based smart charging company Ohme has been announced as the new official EV charging partner for AA Ireland. This collaboration aims to streamline the transition to electric vehicles by integrating Ohme's smart charging solutions into AA Ireland's comprehensive support system for EV owners, which includes specialized EV insurance and promotional offers.

David Watson, CEO of Ohme, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the synergy between Ohme's rapid growth in the Irish market and AA Ireland's established reputation. "Ohme’s award-winning ePod and Home Pro chargers and reputation for excellent customer service meant it was the obvious choice for The AA," McIlduff remarked.

Ohme's smart chargers are designed to optimize charging sessions by automatically adjusting to off-peak electricity tariffs, thereby reducing the cost of charging an EV. For example, using an Ohme EV charger to fully charge a 77kWh Volkswagen ID.3 during off-peak hours could cost as little as €7.34, offering a range of over 574kms (WLTP Combined) at significantly reduced running costs.

Beyond cost savings, Ohme also enables drivers to charge their vehicles when renewable energy generation peaks, further diminishing the carbon footprint associated with EV charging. This feature aligns with broader environmental goals and enhances the sustainability of EV usage.
