A-Gas Enhances Sustainability In Food Retail With EPA GreenChill Partnership

A-Gas, a global frontrunner in the supply and lifecycle management of refrigerants, has recently announced its partnership with the EPA GreenChill program. This collaboration marks a significant step in A-Gas' ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and industry leadership. The EPA GreenChill partnership is known for its voluntary alliance with refrigerant and chemical producers, food retailers, and system manufacturers, aiming to adopt advanced technologies and practices that safeguard the environment and public health.

Mike Armstrong, Managing Director and President, Americas, at A-Gas, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its alignment with A-Gas' mission to protect and enhance the environment. "As an EPA GreenChill partner, A-Gas is poised to continue driving innovative solutions within the refrigeration industry," Armstrong stated. He emphasized the company's dedication to aiding customers in the supermarket and food retail sectors in transitioning to more environmentally friendly products and processes amidst evolving regulations.

A-Gas Joins EPA GreenChill for Sustainability

A-Gas offers a comprehensive suite of solutions throughout the entire lifecycle of refrigerants. With expertise in managing a wide array of refrigerants and employing advanced recovery, reclamation, and destruction technologies, A-Gas supports supermarkets, food retailers, and other GreenChill members in fostering a circular economy by managing the full lifecycle of their refrigerants.

Taylor Ferranti, Commercial Vice President of Refrigerant Management at A-Gas, shared insights into how the company supports food retailers through its Rapid Recovery® service. This nationwide on-site refrigerant recovery service provides turnkey, EPA-compliant solutions that help minimize downtime during maintenance and retrofit projects. Ferranti also highlighted A-Gas' role in supplying certified reclaimed refrigerants and lower GWP alternatives to GreenChill members and other leading companies in North America.

Bella Maranion, Senior Advisor in EPA's Stratospheric Protection Division and member of the GreenChill Team, welcomed A-Gas into the partnership. "By entering the Partnership, A-Gas joins industry leaders committed to reducing emissions and managing their use of climate-damaging refrigerants," Maranion said. She expressed anticipation for A-Gas' contributions to GreenChill's ongoing success.

The EPA's GreenChill Program is a voluntary initiative that collaborates with food retailers, system manufacturers, and chemical producers to minimize refrigerant emissions and their impact on both the ozone layer and climate change. The program assists supermarkets and other stakeholders in transitioning to environmentally friendlier refrigerants, reducing refrigerant usage, preventing leaks, implementing best environmental practices, and adopting green refrigeration technologies. Currently, there are over 13,000 GreenChill Partner stores nationwide.

For over three decades, A‑Gas has led the way in the supply and lifecycle management of refrigerants and associated services. The company excels in recovering, reclaiming, and repurposing refrigerants and fire protection gases for future use or safe destruction—preventing their release into the atmosphere. A-Gas actively promotes lower global warming gases and enhances the circularity of the industries it serves, contributing to a sustainable future.
