Zayed Foundation Partners With Kazakhstan To Set Up Disability Centre
The AVPN Global Conference 2024, held at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi, continues to make significant strides under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council. The event, set to conclude tomorrow, has become a pivotal gathering for investors, philanthropists, policymakers, and government energy officials from Asia. Its agenda is to address the pressing social and environmental challenges within the region.
Throughout its three-day duration, the conference has been a platform for discussions on a variety of critical issues such as climate solutions, healthcare system efficiency, youth empowerment, and women's economic empowerment. The focus has been on leveraging strategic philanthropy, impactful investment, and mixed financing to tackle these challenges effectively.
In a significant development on the conference's sidelines, Abdulaziz Al Zaidi, Director of Projects and Programmes at the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, announced a landmark agreement with the government of Kazakhstan. This collaboration aims to establish a centre for people with disabilities in Astana, Kazakhstan's capital. This initiative marks a step forward in strengthening relations between the two nations and promoting comprehensive development in Kazakhstan.
The proposed centre will cater specifically to individuals with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, aiming to serve around 5,000 people annually. Spanning an area of 1,500 square meters, it will focus on providing top-notch services for rehabilitation and social reintegration. Al Zaidi highlighted the urgent need for such a facility to enhance the healthcare system in Astana after a thorough analysis of the current situation.
This announcement underscores the conference's role not just as a forum for discussion but also as a catalyst for tangible international cooperation and development projects. As the AVPN Global Conference 2024 draws to a close, it leaves behind a legacy of actionable insights and partnerships aimed at addressing some of Asia's most urgent social and environmental issues.
