Zayed Charity Run 2025–2026 Launches With Historic Expansion To Six Global Locations
The Zayed Charity Run is set to expand its reach in the 2025–2026 season, with events planned in six countries: China, Brazil, the UAE, Egypt, the United States, and Hungary. This marks the first time the race will take place in China, Brazil, and Hungary, showcasing its growing global influence. The event aims to promote generosity and social solidarity worldwide.
Lt. General (Ret.) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee, highlighted that this expansion reflects international confidence in the race's mission. He noted that it significantly impacts charitable and humanitarian organisations. The season will kick off on 21st September in Beijing with a unique 5 km robot race alongside traditional races.

The second event will occur in Rio de Janeiro on 5th October. The race will then return to Abu Dhabi on 29th November, aligning with UAE National Day celebrations and offering AED1.5 million in prizes. Cairo will host the next leg on 26th December with EGP20 million in prizes. Miami will follow on 31st January 2026, with Budapest concluding the season in May 2026.
Aref Hamad Al Awani from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council reiterated support for the event during the Year of Community. He emphasised including senior citizens in future races. Mohammed Haji Al Khouri of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation stated that expanding internationally strengthens its humanitarian impact.
Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei of the Emirates Red Crescent expressed full backing for all race destinations. Yaqoub Al Saadi from Abu Dhabi Sports Channels confirmed ongoing global coverage of the event, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian causes.
The Zayed Charity Run began in Abu Dhabi in 2001 and expanded globally by 2005 with its first international race in New York City. It later reached Cairo in 2014. The event supports patients with chronic illnesses and funds children's hospitals and research while promoting health awareness.
Al Kaabi mentioned that future editions would continue to grow under UAE leadership guidance and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan's support. The race's legacy is inspired by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's vision of giving and community support.
This year's total prize money amounts to US$30,000 for Beijing's opening event alone. The inclusion of a robot race highlights innovation within traditional sporting events while maintaining a focus on charity and community engagement.
